"Established in 2006, the Autumn Society is a group of Illustrators that started in Philadelphia and is now branching out worldwide. Comprised of over 200 members, the Autumn Society's goal as a group is to constantly share their artwork and other projects online, and to give exposure to local and emerging artists. They also publish zines, exhibit at comic convention, and create themes for art galleries around the nation.
Recently, the Autumn Society has gathered a lot of media buzz and have been taking the Philadelphia art scene by storm.
This October the Autumn Society brings you the festive "Dia De Los Muertos" holiday to Philadelphia, only at Proximity Gallery.
"Dia de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead), is typically a Mexican celebrated holiday, in which families bring offerings (such as food and mementos) to remember and celebrate their loved ones that have passed away. The holiday is celebrated between October 31st through November 2nd.
The show will consist of 40+ pieces of art from the Autumn Society's finest artists, each interpreting "Dia de los Muertos" in their own unique way.
So come and celebrate on First Friday, October 2nd, and don't miss out on some fantastic original artwork, music, and sugar skulls!"
